While meditating on Composition in Oval with Colour Planes II, I found myself focusing on the pale blue quadrilateral in the near-center of the work, thinking about the seed that develops into the egg, and the day that fades into dusk. With time my eye was drawn spirally away from that gentle blue into the pinkish, light umber tones that surround it - each in its own little window - and eventually away from the rigid structure of the daytime and into the rounded edges and subdued grey of the evening and night.  My musical response is intended to approximate this shift, where repetition (with subtle variation) is overtaken by a calmer flow, down to the subconscious smear of sleep.
